Let me tell you about bird myths.
I write mostly speculative fiction, fantasy short stories, and poetry. I work in Japan.
There is no such thing as a bird without a myth. I am working to tell the myths of birds. I try to write birds as they are, rather than anthropomorphizing them or depicting them as some kind of symbol.
My favorite novelist is Kahlen Blixen (Isak Dinesen). For example, I recognize her work “the diver" (included in “Anecdotes of destiny") as a bird myth.
